Google’s high visibility presence at the 2012 TED Talks Convention took the form of The Garage. The temporary pavilion was constructed of 5 repurposed shipping containers. Video presentation areas, a cafe, interactive kiosks and a YouTube upload studio combined within the structure. A basketball hoop hangs over the garage door to add a fun final touch. Google-branded basketballs were provided for all shot-takers.
The 40-foot shipping containers were shop-altered, shipped to the site, then positioned to form the 1920-square-foot structure. The structure was erected in 3 days and hosted event participants for 4. Its brief, glorious existence ended with a single day of disassembly.
